TWITTER JOURNALISM

Twitter Journalism; Haiku Journalism: or 140 Characters of Live Reporting....Is this the new medium for News Reporting?

A New York Times Article, reports on the new emergence of Twitter Reporting and how it is an effective news reporting outlet specifically for in the Courtroom.

Usually TV reporting isn't allowed in the courtroom, neither is photography unless the Judge gives permission. This is why we usually see sketches of the courtroom action. Reporters still give reports on what has happened but it was never live until Twitter emerged.

Twitter has don what Television isn't allowed to do in the courtroom. Twitter provides news reporters with an outlet for live coverage. Reporters tweet 140 character messages of what is happening live. The followers follow every tweet, gaining suspense with each tweet they read. As the New York Times article states, "It makes the audience feel like they are there."

The specific case the article refers to is a popular case in Connecticut. This case is about to suspects who are being tried for killing a mother and her two children, the husband is testifying against them. The case was very gruesome, the audience caught every piece of detailed action from the murder scene and courtroom.

Twitter returns to the televsion screen again reporting on this court case. The reporter's feeds were posted live on the Fox's network.

This makes me wonder, now that we are moving away from Print Newspapers, will we find our news on Twitter in a few years, and can it be considered credible?
